Assessment Task 3: Project Milestone 2 : SUBMISSION OF COLLABORATIVE EXERCISE
Creative Piece: Written after my interview with a nomadic traveller I met while on semester break.
The Finding
Breathing
no balance can hold me
roads urge me away from
those that hold me here
where are they going to go?
I leave a made bed.
Moving
fascinating little towns
each has a different story
I see all I can. Dirt roads
home calling, twisting me
familiar with its urge
Memory
my mother was a traveller too
her unkempt hair and cigarettes
unwound windows always
station wagon cruising
now I’m her age
Stasis
this bike I saw once by the road
It was rusted stiff. Never moving.
when we die we rust in place
don’t let me rust somewhere
That isnt the place I want to be
Catch
I find some roads lead
to these people. Those people
they hold you and keep you
and I don’t want to be kept
fly with me to petrol stations
Till
maybe this will be forever
I haven’t stopped yet
I’m never happy with the now
need, no I must have
a place where rust is welcomed
