What kind of research do you think is necessary if you're to write outside your experience?

I think If one is going to write outside their own experience the best research they can do is to immerse themselves in pop culture relating to the subject your writing about. This would also include listening in to podcasts, watching interviews, interviewing relevant people regarding all in relation to the subject you have yet to experience. Even once one has done a immense amount of research into the subject its still going to require significant degree of respect and sensitivity so as to depict the subject respectfully.

Without significant research and reflection on why you wish to write about the subject I think there are certain limits that lend to the intergirty of a writer. Sometimes the best perspective to tell is the perspective we know so to speak.
